Community Sing Events
2nd Thursday of each month All are welcome! "The only thing better than singing is more singing." Ella Fitzgerald 7-8:30 pm State Fair Community College 701 3rd Street, Boonville Science Building - 1st Floor Note: Science Building - We have moved to the 1st Floor. Parking in the back of the building on 2nd Street off of Vine. (If you are facing the campus on 3rd Street it's the building on the right.) If you have any questions please call 660-537-4139. (There is parking in the back but you will need to come around to the front entrance.) We started this group for people who love to sing. The emphasis is on raising our voices together. Instruments are welcome, but we also encourage a capella singing and exploring harmony. Here's a quote from songleader, Lisa Littlebird, "It's an ancient, natural pathway– an authentic connection with oneself and the world. When joining voices in community, the benefits are immeasurably magnified. Singing in community cultivates wellness, mindfulness, empathy, and joy." Check out her song library http://thebirdsings.com/song-library/ Participants will sit in a circle and each person will have the opportunity to suggest a song, lead a song or pass. Bring lyrics to a song to share or teach us something new. We also have Rise Up singing song books. There is no charge for this event but please consider joining the River Rats organization to help support projects like this in our community. The goal is not performance necessarily but to experience the act of singing in a group. No experience necessary! We sing for the joy of it! Contact us For more information. |
