River Rats for the Arts and Columbia Access Television sponsor Three-Minute Movie Challenge - 2018
River Rats for the Arts of Boonville, in conjunction with Columbia Access Television (CAT), will sponsor a Three-Minute Movie Challenge beginning Friday, November 9 at 7 pm, State Fair Community College, Boonville Campus, 701 Third Street, 3rd floor. All movie entries will be due by 5:00 pm on Friday, November 16. A screening of films, awarding of prizes and other festivities will be held on Saturday, November 17 at 7:00 pm, Turner Hall, 518 Vine Street in Boonville. In an effort to encourage the creative act of filmmaking CAT and the River Rats will kick off the challenge with a free screening of last year’s winning films and other short movies, Friday, November 9. Sean Brown, Managing Director of CAT will be on hand to answer questions for first time filmmakers. The challenge, what needs to be included in your film to compete, and the list of this year's prizes, will be announced. Details as to formatting, film drop-off locations and guidelines will be distributed at that time.

The RiverRats for the Arts will be celebrating filmmaking this fall with another Three-Minute Movie Challenge in November. In preparation they are offering a filmmaking class for beginners with filmmaker Matt Schacht, operator of Peace Frame Productions in Columbia. Cost is $15. Participants will learn production skills using, Shotcut, a free video editor. Some preparation and equipment is required so please register by Wednesday, October 24 by contacting the Rats at 660-5374139 or emailing us.

The goal is not performance necessarily but to experience the act of singing in a group. No experience necessary!We sing for the joy of it! Participants will sit in a circle and each person will have the opportunity to suggest a song, lead a song or pass. Musical instruments are welcome but not necessary. A capella singing and exploring harmony will be encouraged. The event is free and open to all willing to sing. Contact us For more information.
